Get a brand-new heating boiler to keep happy this wintertime

We should all prepare for the winter months as the weather gets colder and the days shorter by having good gas central heating in our homes. And for keeping your home cosy and warm, you need a good, safe and reliable central heating system, not one that breaks down when the first freeze appears.

The two basic types of central heating systems are called pumped and vented, both of which are made up of a heating boiler, radiators and usually copper pipework.

Pumped systems are probably the more common ones and their main part is a feed expansion tank which acts as the centre core by heating up itself first to subsequently warm up the heaters via the pipes. Provision is made for water to be filled in the expansion tank tank as well as for expansion of the heated water.

The other type of gas central heating consists of a sealed system, where as there is no enlargement tank to the heating system. This system is essentially self-providing and therefore does not require any water tanks. The main pluses of this system is that issues such as leaking and airlocks are minimised and, particularly for those who live in colder climates, pipes will not freeze.

Do I really need a central heating system to heat my house?.

The major advantage of gas central heating is that the home or work space can be quickly, uniformly and efficiently heated without compromising the quality of air in your surroundings. The old type heaters that were used were gas fires and electric heaters, as well as storage heaters. However, these older heating methods make the air sticky and hard, and can also emit an unpleasant smell.

With central heating systems, these problems are not encountered, but your central heating system will require regular maintenance. Many home owners turn them on immediately at the arrival of cold conditions after leaving them off during the summer season, which is not the proper thing to do. Try to switch on your heating system during autumn so that if there is any defect, it can be fixed well before wintertimes approach and fixed at a time when the heating engineers are less busy.

Periodic flushing is very important for some types of central heating systems since they constantly suck dirt and air into them. The easiest way to do this is to gently open the valve and allow any water to fall into a bucket placed underneath.
