Do not postpone, get gas central heating this winter

As the cold winter approaches the nights get longer and the coldness creeps in, so we must all be prepared, and the best way to do this is via a gas central heating system. And for keeping your home cosy and warm, you need a good, safe and reliable gas central heating system, not one that breaks down when the first freeze appears.

The typical central heating system has copper pipework, radiators and a gas gas boiler and it is basically of two types, vented or a pumped system.

Popularly used are pumped systems which comprise of a main feed and expansion water tank that heats up and transmits the heat through pipework to secondary heaters (radiators). The expansion tank might fill up at times because of water expansion.

The vented gas central heating system, on the other hand, is a sealed system, and it doesn’t have the centre section. Since it is completely sealed, the feed-expansion tanks are not required. Chief advantages of vented systems are: there is no risk of leaking water tank; major problems like airlocks are also not associated with such systems; moreover, they are specifically useful in cold countries because there is no risk of freezing pipes.

Do I really need a central heating system to heat my house?.

The major advantage of gas central heating is that the home or work space can be quickly, uniformly and efficiently heated without compromising the quality of air in your environment. In earlier times, gas, electrical or storage heaters were utilised. But these produced uncomfortable humidity and a horrible smell.

Central heating eliminated all of these problems, but a gas central heating system should also be regularly serviced to keep them at there peak. In many homes, these systems are not used during the summer, but as soon as the wintertimes set in, they are intensely used; this should not be done. You should instead try to gradually introduce them in the autumn time, testing so if things are playing up you can easily call out an engineer.

You should also keep in mind that most households gas central heating systems can let air or dirt into it, therefore they need yearly draining. The best way to do this is to place a bucket underneath the drain valve and slowly open it to release the water, but just make sure that no more air or dirt is making its way in.
