Can somebody assist with my gas boiler failure

It’s easy to heat up your home during summers however you can meet a lot of problems if your heating boiler stops working as winter approaches unless you are used to talking cold showers. The central heating system is a part of the home which is rarely, if ever, thought of, until it stops working. Its vital role in providing warmth and hot water becomes sorely missed; and fears arise of the costly repair bills to come.

For those of you who are renting, of course you don’t have to worry about repairs and maintenance as the responsibility lies with your landlord and they probably will have landlords gas boiler cover. However, for homeowners it is always a good idea to make sure you have a little money saved to pay for any unforeseen malfunctions.

If your heating boiler is over ten years old, it might be worth investing in a new model; this can cut your fuel costs down considerably, especially if you get a high-efficiency model. Your choice of a central heating boiler should be determined by the capacity required (based on family needs), the space available for the gas boiler and the existing heating system. If you have a small home with few people and do not want to wait for hot water then a combi heating boiler is your best option. In a combi boiler water is drawn through the mains and heated immediately eliminating the need of storage tanks. Hot water is instant and on demand; but if someone runs a hot tap while you’re having a nice hot shower, be prepared to jump out quickly!.

Another type of gas boiler is the sealed system heating boiler which has a hot water storage tank and is usually used for large families, as it allows several showers and hot water taps to work at the same time. The benefit of using a system heating boiler is that it can be installed quickly and easily in a relatively small area. However, because of the storage tank, hot water isn’t instant and can run out if used too quickly.

If you live in an older home chances are that you have an open vent boiler system, which takes up more space with two water tanks which are in the loft and a storage cylinder which is usually in the airing cupboard. An open vent central heating system provides plenty of hot water that can be used simultaneously, just like a sealed gas boiler, but again here too heating takes time and the pressure is not as good as with a combi boiler.

Lastly, what’s known as a back central heating boiler gives simultaneous access to hot water from several outlets with sustained pressure; but it may need a large area for installation. Back boilers are normally placed in a chimney breast, but they are not the recommended type for your house unless your home already has one. However, if you do already have a back gas boiler system installed in your home and it needs replacing, rather than getting a completely new system, it would be more sensible to get a new back heating boiler installed.

Any malfunctioning heating boiler system requires expensive overhauling and repair. So it is important to get a central heating insurance so that your costs are covered even if something goes wrong with your system. A central heating boiler insurance policy including coverage for yearly central heating system inspections and emergency servicing for repairs will go a long way in reducing your annual boiler maintenance expenses.
